Stephen Jiang came to me via Jackie Gowran, a business mentor we both had the privilege of working with. Stephen had a business idea which needed a visual identity. He wanted to open an affordable homewares chain, beginning with his first shop in Cork city centre. It was to be called Home Square.
In the end I helped Stephen with the entire shop fitout as well as the branding. It was a treat to work on a new business from scratch. We went with a modern paired back palette of materials so as to help his product stand out. Bearing in mind the potential expansion of the concept, I designed a bespoke display module for Home Square which could be manufactured easily; an OSB unit in three different sizes which work well in a variety of arrangements.
I was particularly pleased with the success of the logo; clear, literal, modern and easily reproduced in all applications.
